Katie & Matt | Minneapolis Wedding Photography
The scent of peonies, the warmth of the sun, the sound of laughter and clinking glasses. These are the three things I remember most from Katie & Matt’s wedding day.
There were other moments too, of course. Like their First Look that set my heart ablaze as Matt saw Katie for the first time and looked at her in a way that only happens once in a great while and most of the time, only in the best romantic movies. Or the moment Katie’s bridesmaids beamed at their best friend as she walked down the aisle and collectively burst into tears when her dad kissed her cheek and gave her away to her groom. Or, and this may be my favorite of all the memories because it is so clearly a representation of Katie & Matt as a couple, as I stole them away after the Ceremony to take a few photos down by Lake Calhoun, Matt pulled Katie in for a hug and even though it was 100 degrees with humidity for days and days, she wrapped her arms around him, closed her eyes and exhaled in the most contented & bliss-filled way and I could almost envision the world around them melt away as they savored the moment as man and wife.
Dearest Katie & Matt. I’ve thought of you both so much this week. The same peony bushes that were in bloom the week of your wedding have started to bloom again and while I’m still in complete disbelief that it’s almost been a full year since your wedding day, it also feels like a million years ago in the way that the memories from your wedding day have this timeless/last forever type of feel to them. But, I think maybe, that is just who you are as a couple, too. There is an ease to your relationship and a love that feels timeless but a youth and energy that makes you both so.much.fun to be around. My hope for you both is that you never lose that – that you always feel timeless and that you always feel youthful (even when you might not be, one day). I could not love you both more. Happy (almost) Anniversary, lovebirds.
